In November 2004, David Selby appeared as Horace Vangilder in Surviving Christmas starring Ben Affleck, James Gandolfini, Catherine O'Hara, and Christina Applegate. Jilted by his girlfriend when he proposes a trip to Fiji instead of a Christmas with family, Drew (Ben Affleck) "rents" the family now living in his childhood home for the holidays. Complications arise when his girlfriend Missy Vangilder (Jennifer Morrison) and her parents (David Selby and Stephanie Faracy) show up.
